Sifu JB and members of the MDJKD Team were invited out to Milton, Delaware's prestigious EDGE Academy of Martial Arts to present the Jun Fan Kickboxing program as taught at the Maryland Jeet Kune Do Academy. Accompanied by MDJKD Assistant Instructor John Fitzpatrick and another member of the MDJKD team, Sifu JB lead a five hour workshop on the concepts and training methods of Jun Fan Kickboxing. The workshop was held in the Milton Theater, a rustic environment with great energy that hosts the EDGE Academy classes.
The workshop began with basic boxing drills focusing on punching combinations combined with head and hand defenses. Once the students were acclimated to the methodology of the training, the MDJKD team moved toward introducing combinations including kicking and based heavily around lateral movement. Much of the training methodology involved reflected Sifu JB's study of Savate, both the traditional Savate la rue with Sifu Harinder Singh and modern Boxe Francais with Coach Steve Savoie. The goal of the drills was to move students toward sparring safely while developing technique, skill, and attributes.
"I've had the pleasure of working with some amazing instructors from numerous systems. Sifu Jaeger's teaching ability, command of technique, application, knowledge of history and ability to work with students of various levels was both inspiring and refreshing. His abilities are a tremendous credit to those who have guided and continue to guide him. I am honored and privileged to begin a fruitful school to school relationship with him and his students," said EDGE Academy owner and head instructor Sensei Michael Chamberland.
"This is the second time EDGE has hosted my team and I," Sifu JB stated. "And it's honestly a privilege to share with such a respectful and responsive group of students, and that's a credit to their teacher. It was a great experience getting to work with them and introduce them to Jun Fan Kickboxing. Everyone did a great job learning the material and I hope they got to experience something that helps them on their martial journey in some way."
