Maryland Jeet Kune Do Academy joined Relentless MMA, Rogue Jeet Kune Do, and TryUmph Martial Arts for a two day seminar in Chantilly, VA with Sifu Harinder Singh. The seminar covered the application of Jeet Kune Do and Kali concepts and strategies in mixed martial arts competition and self-defense. The first day of the seminar covered Kali. Sifu Singh covered utilizing stick and knife sparring to develop attributes for combat, enhance footwork, and applying Kali techniques & drills in a live, sparring-based environment. The second day focused on applying Jeet Kune Do principles to entry, clinchwork, takedowns, and groundfighting for mixed martial arts and self-defense.
Both days were sparring-intensive, offering trainees the opportunity to really integrate the techniques and principles into their own conceptual matrix. From beginners to experienced martial artists, everyone walked away with something to help them in their training. More than individual techniques or even concepts themselves, the seminar illustrated that it is the alive training methodology of Sifu Singh's Jeet Kune Do Athletic Association that sets the standard for achieving ability in martial arts.
