We have a lot to be thankful for at the Maryland Jeet Kune Do Academy. We are guided by two amazing teachers, Sifu Harinder Singh of the Jeet Kune Do Athletic Association and Kuya Doug Marcaida of the Brotherhood of the Blade and Marcaida Kali. Many of our students and family may not be aware how in demand these two men are, how their fame and influence in the martial arts world is growing rapidly. Having them as my mentors and instructors means that our students are getting hands on training, here in Odenton, Maryland direct from accomplished masters in their arts.
For all that though, what I have to be thankful of is you. The students and family at the Maryland Jeet Kune Do Academy are what makes us who we are. You are the ones who train every day and accomplished what you have over the past year. You are the ones who have won gold medals in competition, earned recognition from my instructors, you are the ones who have sweat and bled day in and out, supported each other, comforted each other, encouraged each other. I am only responsible for 5% of your success. It was you who got out there and pushed yourself through one more repetition of technique, one more round of sparring, one more set of Hindu push-ups. Without you, the Maryland Jeet Kune Do Academy is just an idea I had. You're the one who made that dream a reality.
We've achieved so much this year and I give thanks to you for all you have given. I know in the next year we can and will do so much more, that we will achieve things that we haven't even conceived of yet, and it will be because you were there, next to me, next to each other, willing to encourage one another for one more...one more.
Happy Thanksgiving. Rest up this weekend. On Monday, we are bringing it back. Jeet for life. Long live the Brotherhood of the Blade.
